The History Of Scottco
Scottco Mechanical Contractors was founded by Mr. W. E. Scott on April 1, 1972, in Amarillo, Texas as a small mechanical contracting firm
The beginning years were lean and the company expanded and contracted along with cyclical swings in the local construction market. In 1977 Scottco was awarded the mechanical contract at the Amstar plant in Dimmitt, Texas. This project required stainless steel process piping, which no other company in the region was able to provide. Scottco’s workforce grew close to 100 at that time and the company was “put on the map.”
During the late 1970s, Scottco continued to grow and began to be recognized as a local leader in all facets of mechanical contracting. And as the company grew, Mr. Scott and his son, Brad Martin, implemented a strategy to help offset the effects of cyclical downturns in construction by forming a Plumbing and HVAC Service Division.
Scottco Service Company was formed in 1982
We began with a van and one technician to run service calls to commercial customers. Although the local economy suffered in the early 80s, Scottco Service Company grew quickly by providing a high level of quality customer service. Since that time, the Service Division has worked well with the Mechanical Contracting Division to form a stable, growth-oriented company.
Residential customers were added to the growing Service Division in the mid-1980s
When our famous slogan “Uh Oh!! Better Call Scottco!” hit the airwaves, the residential side of the business took off. In 1992, a Retail Residential Division was formed to provide professional installation of heat pumps, air conditioners, and furnaces to Amarillo, Texas area homeowners seeking to upgrade systems in their homes.
Over the years, a strong Mechanical Contracting Division coupled with a healthy and growing Service Division has enabled Scottco to become the dominant provider of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning service to industrial, commercial, and residential customers alike in the Amarillo area. The broad scope of our expertise gives us the rare ability to take on any job, large or small, simple or complex. And we go to great lengths to ensure a well-trained, drug-free workforce, high-quality craftsmanship, and ethical conduct as individuals and as corporate citizens.
In 1972, Scottco was founded with the commitment to earn and re-earn the opportunity to serve our customers with Professionalism, Integrity, and Quality. This commitment stands today as strong as ever.
