Rick Husband International Airport
For the city of Amarillo, this project was vital for future economic growth in the Texas Panhandle. The project consisted of the addition of a new air terminal and remodel of an existing facility. It included the installation of six Temtrol air handling units, two chillers, pumps, controls, and ductwork systems. In addition to the mechanical scope of work, Scottco completed the plumbing scope and assisted the City of Amarillo in updating some existing equipment.
Bell Helicopter Building 525
Scottco partnered with Western Builders of Amarillo on Bell Helicopter’s newest addition to Amarillo. A 250,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility for the new 525 Relentless helicopter program. Scottco installed a complete two pipe hydronic mechanical system including six 66,500 CFM air rotation units, four 280 ton chillers, plumbing systems, breathable air piping and nearly 2 miles of stainless steel compressed air piping. Additionally, this project featured a designated “clean room” which required 30 tons of sheet metal fabrication and installation.
West Texas A&M University Residence Hall Phase I-III
With West Texas A&M’s enrollment rate soaring to new levels, the University planned and implemented a three phase project to upgrade and replace the currently underutilized dormitory building. The project included building two residential style dormitories, nearly a mile of mechanical piping and a new chiller plant. The phased approach was awarded as GMP ( gross maximum price) contracts and Scottco assisted in the design from day one. WT’s attendance continues to grow and the incoming classes and upper classmen have a state of the art place to call home.
Bell Helicopter H1 Flight Hangar
This project included a new flight hangar for the Bell Helicopter H1 program. It featured under slab ductwork, compressed air piping systems and a high capacity drainage system that consumed nearly 4,000 yards of flowable fill. The office area and technical shops included fan coil units with steam humidifiers and an extensive energy management system.
