Plumbing Questions
We don’t recommend using chemical drain cleaners. They can have some very toxic and corrosive chemicals in the mixture. Those could be harmful to children and pets if improperly stored, they can be harmful to pipes and may have chemicals that are harmful to beneficial bacteria in septic tanks. For maintenance we recommend Bio-Clean. Its natural bacteria and enzymes digest organic waste found in your plumbing system. For stoppages use a plunger. If you can’t clear the drain with a plunger we recommend that you give us a call and let one of our drain-cleaning experts address the problem for you.
It’s basically an internal water leak. The average leaky toilet can waste about 200 gallons of water per day running up your water bill. Leaky toilets can be caused by the toilet flapper, incorrect chain adjustment, or float ball problems.
Unplug the garbage disposal or turn off the breaker controlling the garbage disposal. Insert the correct size Allen wrench into the bottom of the disposal and crank both directions a few times to free up the impellers. Once you have freed up the impeller use tongs and remove the object/s that caused the jam. Plug the disposal back in or turn back on the breaker controlling the disposal and test. Don’t try to run a disposal that just hums but doesn’t grind, it could burn out the motor. If you are unable to free the disposal with an Allen wrench we recommend that you schedule a service call and allow one of our plumbers to correct the problem.
Heating And Air Conditioning Questions

To help you remember to change your filters, Scottco can install a programmable thermostat that gives you filter reminders. Pre-season tune-ups are also highly recommended for your furnace, air conditioner, and/or heat pump.
